Sonia Ganassi, one of the greatest mezzo-sopranos of her generation, is regularly invited in the most prestigious theaters in the world (Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, La Scala in Milan, Teatro Real of Madrid, Barcelona’s Liceu, Bayerisches Staatsoper etc..) collaborating with conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Riccardo Muti, Myung-Whun Chung, Daniele Gatti, Antonio Pappano, Daniel Barenboim. Thanks to her several successes, in 1999 the Italian music critics awarded her with the Premio Abbiati.

The many roles played – many of them engraved on CD or DVD – include: Rosina in ll Barbiere di Siviglia, Angelina in La Cenerentola, Hermione, Queen Elizabeth of England, Romeo in I Capuleti ei Montecchi, Adalgisa in Norma, Leonora in La Favorite, Zaide in Dom Sebastien, Jane Seymour in Anna Bolena, Elizabeth in Maria Stuart, Idamante in Idomeneo, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Eboli in Don Carlo, Charlotte in Werther, Carmen, Marguerite in La Damnation de Faust.

She alternates between several opera engagements and an intense concert activity in prestigious concert halls. Recall the Stabat Mater of Rossini at the Concertegebow in Amsterdam and at the Avery Fisher Hall in New York, the Verdi’s Requiem at the Berlin Philharmonic conducted by Maestro Daniel Barenboim and at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia conducted by Maestro Pappano.

In 200809 season she sang Norma at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia (conducted by Kent Nagano), I Capuleti e Montecchi in Genoa, Anna Bolena in Lyon and Paris, the Verdi’s Requiem with Antonio Pappano at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, whose record company EMI Classics has made an incision, La Damnation de Faust in Naples, Mary Queen of Scots in Venice, Verdi’s Requiem in Rome with the Scala Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Maestro Daniel Barenboim, The Favorite in Seville.
