Megan Quick, a native of Brockville, Ontario, is very excited to be joining the 201617 Canadian Opera Company Ensemble program. She studies with with Wendy Nielsen, and recently completed two years at the University of Toronto (Toronto, Ontario). She holds a Diploma of Operatic Performance from the University of Toronto (May 2016), a Masters in Performance (2013) from Guildhall School of Music and Drama (London, England) and a Bachelor of Music (2011) from Dalhousie University (Halifax, Nova Scotia).

In the 201516 University of Toronto Opera season, Megan performed Baba in Menotti’s The Medium, Poppet in Benjamin Britten’s operetta Paul Bunyan, as well as roles in The Fatal Gaze, and The Art of Prima Donna. She also performed Schoenberg’s Lied der Waldtaube and Das Lied von der Erde by Mahler in the Faculty Artists series of recitals at the Unviersity of Toronto, under the baton of Uri Mayer. In 2014, Megan performed the roles of Little Buttercup in Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore with University of Toronto Opera.

In May of 2015, she performed with the Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra, singing Gustav Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen. In 2013, she performed Edward Elgar’s Sea Pictures with the Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra. While at Guildhall, Megan performed in various staged opera scene performances, as well as being a part of the opera choruses for Ned Rorem’s Our Town and Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor by Otto Nicolai.

At Dalhousie, Megan performed participated in Opera Workshop performances annually. Her roles in these productions included Dido in Dido and Aeneas, Eva in Comedy on the Bridge, and Zita in Gianni Schicchi.
