RECENT AND UPCOMING ENGAGEMENTS

20172018 season includes Mark’s return to the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as Alfio Cavalleria Rusticana, his house debut at the Welsh National Opera as Scarpia Tosca, Cadmus in Henze’s The Bassarids in concert with the Spanish RTE Orchestra and Kent Nagano, Amfortas Parsifal for Poznan Opera, the series of concerts as a part of The Drozdoff Society’s Recital Series in New York.

Mark has a busy series of engagements and debuts in the upcoming seasons including his return to The Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, Dallas Opera and The Philharmonie de Paris.

Escamillo, Amonasro at Milan’s La Scala, Jochanaan in Strauss’ Salome with the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin, Mephistopheles in Gounod’s Faust Santa Fe Opera and Opera Frankfurt, Premysl in Janáček’s Šárka with La Fenice in Venice, Jochanaan in Salome with Florence’s Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Arena di Verona as Escamillo in Carmen, Balstrode in Peter Grimes with the Teatro Regio di Torino, Jochanaan at Bologna’s Teatro Comunale, the title role in Der fliegende Holländer in Teatro Comunale Bologna and at the Dorset Opera Festival, Amonasro in Aida for Teatro Regio Torino, leading baritone role in Nicholas Lens’ Shell Shock for La Monnaie Brussels, Escamillo in Carmen, Cadmus in Henze’s The Bassarids for Opera di Roma, Germont in La traviata at the Hyogo Performing Arts Center in Hyogo, Japan, Méphistophélès in Faust for Opera de Oviedo, Balstrode in Peter Grimes with the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Italy, double bill performances as Premysl in Sarka and as Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana in Seville, his successful debut as a role which he also performed with the San Diego Opera and Seville, Four Villains in Les Contes d’Hoffmann with the New National Theatre in Tokyo, successful debuts with the Berlin State Opera as Jochanaan in Salome and with São Paulo Brazil, Simone in Zemlinsky’s Eine florentinische Tragödie with Teatro Regio di Torino, and Pizarro in Fidelio at the Dorset Opera Festival.

In the fall of 2011, Mark was presented with the prestigious Entertainment Award from Planet Africa, which recognises his achievements as an artist and reputation as a positive role model for youths, both in Canada and in the United States.

Mark has performed under the batons of notable conductors including Riccardo Muti, Lorin Maazel, and Daniel Barenboim, and he has been featured with the major orchestras of Cleveland, Chicago and Philadelphia.
