Esme Allen-Creighton

Esme Allen-Creighton is a writer and violist currently living in her native Toronto, Canada where she teaches at the Royal Conservatory of Music. She most recently left positions as a Philadelphia Orchestra Teaching artist, Serafin Quartet member and professor at the University of Delaware. Independent projects have included "Justice Tales", a multi-media production addressing racism through original music for oral history recordings, viola, and violin, choreography, spoken word, photography and historical essay. Her TEDx talk "Consonance and Dissonance: Musical Story-Telling at its most instinctual" explored the range of human reactions to harmonic language. She enjoys writing scripted concerts for string quartets, intertwining literary classics with musical works.
